June 9, 2017
7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The North Little Rock Community Concert Band will present the June installment of their summer concerts in the park on Friday evening, June 9 under the big canopy at Lakewood Village. The free, hour long, family friendly concert by the all volunteer wind band will begin at 7:30. Music Director Rico Belotti will conduct the ensemble in a program he calls "Fanfares, Flourishes and Friends". Included in the band's musical selections will be James Curnow's "Fanfare and Flourishes For a Festive Occasion", "Flourish For Wind Band" by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and "Jupiter Hymn" (from The Planets) by Gustav Holst. Friends from the band, trumpeter Buddy Hankins and trombonist Larry Vaught will take the podium to conduct Fillmore's "Military Escort" and K.L. King's "The Trombone King". Rounding out the program will be a patriotic medley arranged by John Cacavas "America On Parade", Frank Erickson's "Balladair", and, as always, "The Stars and Stripes Forever". Lawn chairs or blankets are recommended. For more information about the concert or the band call 501-758-2576 or visit www.nlrcommunityband.com. Lakewood Village is located on MCCain Blvd. between MacCain Mall and North Hills Blvd. in North Little Rock. The band's next concert will be Friday July 7 at Lakewood Village.
