If you want to take a nice walk on our scenic river trail starting in the North Shore Riverwalk located on the Arkansas River downtown. While you are in the North Shore Riverwalk, make sure and notice the Trail of Tears Exhibit which recognizes North Little Rock’s geographic importance as a significant station along the trail’s way west to Oklahoma during the relocation of an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 Native Americans that passed this way during the forced relocation. You can walk the entire 7 ½ mile scenic river trail to the new Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge which spans across the dam; the longest pedestrian/bicycle bridge in the world designed and built for that purpose. It is 3,463 linear feet of bridge elevated 90 feet above the Arkansas River.
