Coffee and comedy: the perfect blend at The Joint

The Joint Theater & Coffeehouse is a coffee shop by day, intimate entertainment venue by night. And we do mean, pretty much every night:

  • Mondays (monthly): Jazz at The Joint series
  • Tuesdays (weekly): Open mic for stand-up comedy
  • Wednesdays (weekly): The Joint Venture improv group
  • Thursdays (monthly): Argenta Acoustic Music Series, Potluck & Poison Ivy dinner and storytelling event
  • Fridays & Saturdays (weekly): original comedy productions
  • Comedy, theater and live music events throughout the year

The weekend comedies, written and performed by “The Main Thing” comedy trio, usually revolve around The Fertle Family, a twelve-person family played by three performers who act, sing and play instruments throughout the fast-paced, knee-slapping show. Though some of the more popular shows return every year, this professional comedy team is always writing new material and introduces new shows every year. It’s never the same experience twice!

“The Main Thing” consists of Steve Farrell, Vicki Farrell and Brett Ihler. Steve Farrell has written for Saturday Night Live, Off-Broadway, HBO and for ten years was syndicated nationally by Dick Clark’s United Stations Radio Network. Vicki Farrell was a charter member of The Comedy Workshop in Houston and co-founder of Radio Music Theatre, where she performed weekly from 1984 to 2011 (Steve and Vicki still have many fans from Houston that travel to see them in North Little Rock). Brett Ihler has performed with numerous theater companies across the country and is an expert in stage combat. He was a charter member of Improv Little Rock.

The Night I Spent a Week in Arkansas will be at The Joint through November 23, then catch the annual popular holiday show, A Fertle Holiday, November 29 through January 11. Shows are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and are “good, clean fun” for all. The Joint is located at 301 Main Street in the Argenta Arts District of North Little Rock.

To try some of their socially-responsible, eco-friendly coffee from Numu, stop by The Joint between 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday or 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays. Net proceeds of each sale go to feed orphans in Haiti through Convoy of Hope. What do we recommend? Anything chocolate, of course: German chocolate latte, caramel mocha macchiato or mocha cappuccino.
