Laman Library

Laman Library is sharing resources, live book readings and more on their Facebook page every day.

New Digital Podcast and Film Clubs: The groups are like book clubs, but for movies and podcasts. Look for the Laman Library Film and Podcast club groups on Facebook to join the discussions.

Free online Creativebug classes: Patrons have an all-access, no-boundaries pass to explore thousands of classes. Topics include fiber and paper arts, jewelry making, sewing and quilting, food, home and more. To inspire that buzz of creative possibility, Creativebug Inspiration offers plenty of eye candy with images of finished class projects shared by participants. They also feature Creativebug Television (or CBTV for short), where you’ll get a deeper look into the processes, studios, and daily lives of your favorite artists and teachers. You can also save classes and receive personalized recommendations.

North Little Rock School District students, and anyone who doesn’t already have a library card, will need to request an eCard at lamanlibrary.org to access this resource.

How has the COVID-19 Pandemic Changed your Life? North Little Rock’s William F. Laman Public Library is collecting stories and wants to hear how you, your family and your communities are being affected. Share your story to add your voice to the history of our region. This will be important to look back on in the future. At lamanlibrar.org, you may also share photographs and videos for the library to consider for research, education, exhibitions, programs, marketing, promotional material or reproductions.

Ebook/audiobook Requests Accepted: “Even now, with our physical locations closed, you can access the library from home,” according to Crystal Gates, the executive director of the North Little Rock system. “We offer a vast collection of digital materials, crafting/making classes, language learning, movies, eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and music, that can be enjoyed in a web browser, downloaded to a mobile device or streamed online.”

Free apps like OverDrive’s Libby, hoopla, Kanopy, Freegal and Tumblebooks for kids may be downloaded from the App Store and accessed with your library card. If you don’t find the eBook or audiobook you’re looking for, requests are accepted at lamanlibrary.org. See the Resources/Downloadables tab on the library website for details.
